A solo exhibition "Freedom is a Shadow" of Gigi Rigamonti will take place in Miami Beach (Florida, The US.) on 5 December to 20 December 2002 at the First Edition of Art Basel Miami Beach.
The three-dimensional sculptural paintings of Gigi Rigamonti accompanied by colours that recall those of Matisse, Kandinsky and Mondrian willingly cover the herd of words, facts and images of daily fatigue.
It goes far away from noises and transforms colours into notes. As though they were scores without any leimotiv, th surrealist automatism which intervenes in the small hours, Rigamonti cannot stop his hand from drawing in notebooks or painting on white canvas so fast.
A streak of ironic humour accompanies his works which is 360 degrees open. He uses body figures, objects and experimental materials. His recent works are movable objusts, mobile paintings, friendly presences in his own domus.
